This Beginner Series is for the absolute newcomer to yoga or those wishing to review the basics. Welcome! Everyone remembers their introduction to yoga - so many questions and concerns! What do I wear? What do I need to bring? I'm not flexible enough. I don't know all the pose names. I won't know how to move in class.  Will I be able to sit in meditation without fidgeting? What is the philosophy behind it? In this 8 week introduction to Yoga series we will answer all these questions and more!

This 8 week course will provide you all the answers you need to make you feel comfortable with taking regular classes.  Some of the topics to be discussed are:
*The 8 limbs of yoga philosophy
*What does Om and Namaste mean and why we say it
*Studio Etiquette
*Breathing techniques and their benefits
*Different meditation techniques
*An exploration of basic poses (asana), their benefits and modifications for your particular physical needs.
*Why balance is important and poses to improve balance
*Posture and alignment and how to improve
*Developing body awareness, proprioception and how it can help you to practice mindfully on and off your mat.
*Handouts will be given.

The benefits of yoga and meditation are many. If you have physical limitations or any concerns about your health, consult with a physician to be sure yoga is right for you.

Cost for this 8 week series is $135 and includes a free brand new yoga mat for you to use and keep.
